Why am I doing this?

Honestly I have no clue! I’m probably going to regret it but I think I really have to try and push myself. I also want to let others know that despite it feeling like the world is against you or something – it isn’t! You aren’t insane or Ill, you are not anxiety or depression or anything other than simply you. You may have anxiety or any number of things but it doesn’t define you.

Society has gotten into a bad habit of labelling people by traits. I once was called a ‘pessimistic, catastrophic thinker’ and for a while that was how I saw myself. In all fairness the person said that because I was a 14 year old who just stated that when i was bored I would plan my escape route or plan of action just in case I happened to be stuck in a deathly situation or kidnapped.* Nevertheless when I was labelled that by just one person, I felt more isolated than ever before. I decided that it was weird and I was insane, that nobody understood me. I already knew at this point that I had anxiety, so I added that into the label. I saw myself as an ‘anxious, catastrophic, pessimistic’ person – which isn’t exactly positive!
It has taken me ages to learn that, yes, that is a tiny part of my personality but i’m also awkward, witty, geeky, dramatic, kinda smart I guess! I’m me! I love Theatre and my family, walking, singing, dancing….. you get the point! (I hope).

I am not my mental illness and neither are you. You have an entire amazing personality that happens to involve anxiety or depression. YOU ARE NOT ANXIETY OR DEPRESSION.

So I’m going to stop this one here, that might have not made any sense and I apologise if its rambling. I am new to this and yeah, I would have put more views but I am very opinionated and talk a lot so thats for another time! I would like to also add that this is my viewpoint and I am not at all educated in the field of psychology so if you are really struggling then go and see someone and talk about it. I go to see a therapist and it is great. I might do my next post on that whole experience – who knows!

*For example; if I was in a classroom I would find every entrance point (door, window, vent, etc.) that a murderer or kidnapper could get through and then I would look for places I could hide, weapons I could make and advantage spots where I could defend myself and others…. Personally I think that is perfectly reasonable and smart if anything but I understand how it’s probably not the best thing to think about.

Thanks for reading, please remember you are not alone and it is okay to have a bad day!

Sincerely,
XietyAnn

Hi

Thanks for joining me!

‘I honestly have no clue what I am doing’
-Me

Explanation;
I don’t really know why I am doing this. Basically it is just me trying to figure out my own head, I have had anxiety for a pretty long time now, it’s been difficult and honestly I don’t think it ever won’t be. I used to think that no one understood what I went through, that I wasn’t normal and that despite having a great family that I had never been more alone in my life. Anyway I decided, literally a few minutes ago, that I’d share my experiences and thought processes just in case anyone feels alone. I’d just like to put out there that I am in no way, shape or form a therapist! I am simply a teenager who has experience with mental ‘illness’ and want to share their thought process with people in hopes of easing off that constant worry of insanity that I hope no one else goes through.

Warning;
I am really bad at getting straight to the point. I ramble and it’s likely that a lot of these posts will be pretty long so apologies in advance!!
